As spring is now well underway and we are starting to get our first glimpse of sunshine here in the UK, I thought that now would be a prudent time to discuss this coming season’s colours. So what would the catwalks of Paris and London have us believe we should be buying for spring / summer 2010? It would appear nude colours are this seasons firm favourite, including; Coffee, Light Peach, Oyster, Apricot and Blush. Powder Pink and Candy Pink also feature heavily in this summer’s line up. We are also seeing a revival this season of block colours, where typically three or more contrasting colours are all featured together. On paper the block colours are a big fail, however when they are correctly presented in context they can work wonders. Examples of block colours would include; Cobalt Blue, Tangerine, White, Canary Yellow, and Red. Of course let’s never forget that Black’s and Brown’s are more popular than ever this year.
If you believe what you read in fashion magazines then you can also expect to see some good old faithful styles making a return this summer. The Military look is one such style looming on the horizon, including of course our good friend the Camouflage print. Leathers are in, which is good news for all of those with wardrobes packed to the brim of Leather Handbags. Light Poppy prints make a welcome return, along with Chiffons, Crochet, Ruffles, Aprons and sportswear. So where does this all leave you, the humble handbag hunter? – Well of course its fun to be told what to buy and when, but ultimately buying a handbag is a decision of one’s personal taste. The colour and style should reflect an owner’s personality and not which magazine or website blog they read.
I will therefore leave it up to you to decide whether or not you will follow trends this season.
