Yoshi Hampton Limited Edition Beach Hut Seaside Picture Grab Bag / Handbag now in stock!

Yoshi
If like us you have been waiting patiently for the new season from Yoshi to arrive, then I am pleased to say that the wait is almost over! I say almost over, as the new 2011 collection is officially launched at the end of March. Before SS11 gets fully under-way we are pleased to announce that some items are available to buy now. The first of these is a very special item indeed…. Although there are many fans and indeed collectors of Yoshi handbags, to date they have never produced any limited edition bags. This is all set to change though with the launch of their first limited edition picture bag ‘Beach Hut’.

The Yoshi Hampton Beach Hut grab bag is intended to invoke memories of a bygone era; a time when the whole family would day trip or holiday at the seaside, and iPods were considered portable transport vehicles from the realm of Star Trek. A time when the world moved at a significantly slower pace, there were no mobile phones, pda’s, laptop’s, netbooks, only grumpy old granny’s and their ice creams.

So recline back in your wooden deck chair, which probably cost more to borrow these days than one would be to buy. Take a slurp on your Slush Puppie, relax and read a nice soothing book…. Coming back to reality for a moment if I may, now where was I? – Ahh yes, the Yoshi Hampton leather Beach Hut handbag…. Produced using only the finest soft touch leather and finished all by hand, this truly is a magnificent bag. Each bag comes individually hand numbered to show the exact Yoshi you own, and complete with it’s own special dust bag to store it in. This bag is so nice that we cannot imagine collectors wanting to hide it away, so why not buy two and keep one for your collection and the other for everyday use!

The Yoshi Hampton Limited Edition Beach Hut bag won’t be around for long (much like the Sun here in the UK), so please buy early to avoid disappointment.

Handbags – A Woman’s Domain

Handbags are pretty handy and are available in many brand names. Although nowadays they are unisex – yes, there are handbags for men too – hand held bags are chiefly the domain of women particularly those who cherish to show off additional accessories. In a fashion conscious world, it would be foolhardy to frown upon the rank, class, grace and finesse that a well crafted and beautifully patterned leather hand bag can bestow on even the plainest of damsels. A social occasion, an official function, a home, or the office is never complete without the presence of hand bags. That great playwright, William Shakespeare, once wondered what was in a name. He questioned whether a rose would cease to be a rose if it was by some other name called. Of course in the world of flowers, a rose will remain a rose whether it is called a bush – but not in the world of human beings! A woman can never be called a lady if she doesn’t have a hand bag flung on her arms all the times.

Not to be left behind, handbags also are available in durable but hair weight designs which are resistant to scratches of any kind. They come in multiple shades, patterns, textures and shinny exteriors. However much you might think they are the same, the closer you look the more you will realise that each piece of hand bag has an exclusive look to it. In this respect, modern designers hardly ever give women breathing space because the quality of skills they use keep on producing stunning innovative designs that provide a changing panorama of hand bags for women.

The vast array of leather handbags display characteristics which range from classical softness, original designs associated with specific regions, long adjustable straps and highly refined, clean finished lines that not only imparts airs of attractiveness but also guarantees cool comfort when carried. Does one have to do anything else to capture that special feminine and fragile look other than simply having a stylish handbag?

Now, since handbags are a prominent aspect of our everyday life, they are compartmentalised to contain all the odds and ends that we daily need to run our lives efficiently. For instance, Italian hand bags have several exterior and interior zippered pockets for things like wallets, cell phones, mini make-up kit, business card holders etc. Other unique characteristics are: front pockets with zips, double adjustable wooden or leather rolled handles, and cotton or nylon lining for cool interiors.

How to care for / clean leather handbags

I thought today it might be wise to go over a few of the fundamentals with regards to leather care and storage.  Our legal team have insisted that before I give any help or advice, you must read the following disclaimer.

Leather care disclaimer

All advice and information which follows is provided ‘as is’ and without warranty.  Neither Kubi Handbags, nor Kubi Direct Ltd will in any way be liable for any damage which may or may not occur as a result of following the subsequent information.  All advice and information is provided in good faith and is to the best of our knowledge both accurate and correct.  By continuing to read, you acknowledge that you follow this advice at your own risk.

How to care for / clean leather handbags

If you have ever owned a leather handbag, I am sure you will already be familiar with our friend the ‘fingerprint’.  I am sure you have all been out to a club wearing your favourite handbag, only to have some complete idiot touch it with their sticky alcohol infused hands.  One finger print this week, another next and over time you will soon start to notice a build up of unsightly stains.  Of course it doesn’t have to be this way, and by following a few simple steps which only take a moment, you can hope to extend your handbag enjoyment for many years to come.

The type of cleaning treatment you follow depends on the type of leather the bag is made from.  Here are three examples for the most popular materials we sell.

Grain leather handbags

  • Regularly wipe clean using a slightly damp cloth, or brush away contaminants using a soft brush, typically a brand new and unused blusher brush I find works best.
  • The use of proprietary cleaning agents or polishers should be approached with caution and carried out only in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.  Less is always better, avoid using any excessive quantities.
  • Once or twice yearly you should wipe your handbag using a cloth dampened with White Sprit to thoroughly cleanse the leather surface from old and discoloured waxes.  Using a proprietary polish you should then give the bag a light treatment, before finally rubbing one last time all over using a soft clean cloth.

Patent leather handbags

  • Clean using only a damp cloth, plus a little neutral detergent if needed.
  • Pigskin leathers should be treated with a silicone preparation to protect and ensure longevity.
  • Minor contamination on all grain leathers can frequently be removed by gentle rubbing with a soft India rubber eraser.

Suede leather handbags

  • Brush regularly with a soft suede brush or rub gently using a plastic foam block.
  • Minor stains and marks may be removed with a hard rubber eraser, or by touching up the surface with a fine emery paper.
  • The leather should retain its colour and appearance if it is regularly treated with a fluorocarbon aerosol spray product. These make the leather water repellent, and offer protection from both grease and dust.
  • There is a wide range of suede cleaning and colouring products on the market, all of which can provide excellent results – provided that the product manufacturer’s recommendations are strictly observed.

How and where to store leather handbags

Avoid storing leather handbags in any type plastic or polythene bags for any prolonged period of time.  Plastic and Polythene are both materials which have a tendency over time to react with leather.  The type of the reaction depends on the type of leather used to make your handbag.  At the very least you are likely to see a discolouration of the leather take place, therefore ruining your favourite handbag.

The ideal storage location for any handbag should be in a dedicated cloth bag, or pillow case and away from heat or direct sunlight. The bottom of a wardrobe is usually a good place, ideally where it is cool, dry and airy.

Will you follow the colour trends for handbags this season?

As spring is now well underway and we are starting to get our first glimpse of sunshine here in the UK, I thought that now would be a prudent time to discuss this coming season’s colours.  So what would the catwalks of Paris and London have us believe we should be buying for spring / summer 2010?  It would appear nude colours are this seasons firm favourite, including; Coffee, Light Peach, Oyster, Apricot and Blush.  Powder Pink and Candy Pink also feature heavily in this summer’s line up.  We are also seeing a revival this season of block colours, where typically three or more contrasting colours are all featured together.  On paper the block colours are a big fail, however when they are correctly presented in context they can work wonders.  Examples of block colours would include; Cobalt Blue, Tangerine, White, Canary Yellow, and Red.  Of course let’s never forget that Black’s and Brown’s are more popular than ever this year.

If you believe what you read in fashion magazines then you can also expect to see some good old faithful styles making a return this summer.  The Military look is one such style looming on the horizon, including of course our good friend the Camouflage print.  Leathers are in, which is good news for all of those with wardrobes packed to the brim of Leather Handbags.  Light Poppy prints make a welcome return, along with Chiffons, Crochet, Ruffles, Aprons and sportswear.  So where does this all leave you, the humble handbag hunter? – Well of course its fun to be told what to buy and when, but ultimately buying a handbag is a decision of one’s personal taste.  The colour and style should reflect an owner’s personality and not which magazine or website blog they read.

I will therefore leave it up to you to decide whether or not you will follow trends this season.

Still in search of the perfect Handbag…

In the second part of our series ‘In search of the perfect handbag’ we look at materials, shapes, and the all important cost aspect of being handbag crazy.

Are you a material girl?

So will it be leather or synthetic? If you want to keep your bag for a long time, the fabric and quality will probably be important. If your bag will be used for carrying heavier items, you will need something quite durable. On the other hand, an evening bag can be made from a more fragile fabric.  This is one purchase where you can justify spending that little bit extra! After all, you’re going to get optimum use out of which ever beauty you choose!

Mix and match

Did you notice certain bags suit certain body shapes? Generally curvier ladies should avoid round or miniature handbags. Just as Tall and slender women should avoid large, rectangular bags. This is not gospel; there are always exceptions to rule!

Money, money, money!

Now that you know what you want, it’s the fun bit. I know shopping is one of the best pass times known to woman, but let’s not get carried away. Limit yourself to buying that one perfect bag, not every tote that ticks a box along the way. Work out how much you can reasonably invest (yes, invest!) and try and stick to your plan. Shop around online and in stores, do some digging and you might just find a better deal somewhere else. If you have allowed a bigger budget, and feel nervous about spending those big bucks so frivolously, do some research! Check for reviews of the bag or label online, it may not be as good quality or long lasting as it looks. Ask the retailer about returns policies and warranties, especially if buying online and remember to keep your receipts safe.

Hopefully the result will be a beautiful handbag you can use time and time again. I’m not suggesting this should be your only handbag purchase for the next decade, but it could help limit those one hit wonders, still lurking in the back of your wardrobe!

In your search for the perfect handbag, please do not forget to visit www.kubi.co.uk where we have handbags suitable for all budgets, tastes and styles, all with Free delivery and our Monster price match promise.
